today's chai

One should never try to multi-task whilst making chai. An inevitable chai spillover will occur.

This is how my day started. Uh oh, it's not gonna be a good day. I tried to replace it with it a good thought in an effort to reprogram my critical brain. Well, at least I got the bad part over with. The teabag falls into my chai as I pour. Gotta laugh!

The rest of my day has been a vast improvement. My child is actually taking a nap. Is there a greater gift to be had?

Went and bought some groceries and beverages for the Oscar party (of six). We're doing all appys this year. I'm making kabobs (I think), marinated mushrooms and tiramisu (literal translation pick me up). I will likely make something else too. Others are bringing Costco chicken wings, marinated eggplant stuffed with sun-dried tomatoes and provolone. I get hungry just thinking about it. Beverage for the night will be cranberry sparklers made with cranny juice and sparkling wine.

Watched Lost last night. Meh! It was a Jack-centric episode. Not too many questions are being answered and the fans are getting pissed from what I am reading on the boards. More questions than answers and too many filler episodes. Will we ever learn about the statue that looks like Homer Simpson's foot? I must say though I am liking Jack more this season than I have in the past. I wonder if he's had a few voice lessons. His voice isn't sounding as whiny as before.

Going for pub night at the Penny Lane tonight with my dear friend. She's busing up and I am going to walk, so much imbibing can ensue. It's no Royal Oak like the old days in Ottawa, but it will have to suffice. We are definitely going a notch down from the last few weeks where it was fine dining all the way. Tonight it will be dodgy draft for us and some very greasy nosh.

a compendium of miscellany

So I have been thinking about starting my own blog for a while, because really everyone is entitled to my opinion. I wanted to call this "eat my blog," but some other clever and more motivated individual beat me to the punch. Why chai? Well, that would be my beverage of choice and I have been known as "chaigirl" for ages now. Having said that, I am not averse to some red wine either

I am a psuedo-foodie and psuedo-academic, f-t mum of a busy three-year-old. My passions include food (naturally), words, and television.

Food: I love to cook, but not everyday. I love to eat out, but not everyday. I aim to strike a balance. I eat out a few times a week and will post about my experiences here. I have a steady date Thursday nights with a dear friend with whom I have had some lovely meals as of late.

Words: I am forever working on book in my mind. I have been known to read books with a dictionary nearby so as not to miss out on the slightest essence of an unfamiliar word. At one time, I also corrected misspellings in books I was reading. Obnoxious, perhaps, but I am no Lynn Truss. One of my favourite things to do is read when all the world is sleeping.

Television: I have a particular predilection for shows that are a bit off the beaten path like Buffy, Lost and Veronica Mars. However, my husband will attest that I will watch pretty much anything if I am bored. Perhaps that explains that ugly 7th Heaven period I went through. Gilmore Girls also makes me happy, although not so much as of late.

This blog will be a compendium of miscellany of my musings, passions and encounters; that is, whatever is my cup of chai.
